Patient Spotlight: Ken LaPlace

April 26, 2023

At our dental practice, we have had the honor of serving Ken LaPlace, a truly inspirational and remarkable individual. Ken is a retired Pontiac Police officer with 26 years experience, in 2007 he founded and now leads The Living Legends Organization, a non-profit that is dedicated to providing support and assistance to police officers and their families who are going through difficult times.
The Living Legends Organization was established with the aim of offering financial and social assistance to sick, injured, and disabled police officers and their families, with a special focus on those who are battling profound personal hardships. Ken believes that these officers have sacrificed so much for their communities and their country, and he personally feels that it is his duty to give back to them in whatever way possible.

The three-member board includes:
Vice President: Butch Lecik (Regional National Manager for Modular Home placement and regulations and certified substance abuse counselor)
Treasurer:  Kimberly Wells (Associate Professor for Digital Media, Delta College)
Executive Director is Linda LePere

Since its inception, The Living Legends Organization has made a tremendous impact in the lives of countless individuals, providing them with the support and resources that they need to overcome the challenges they face. The organization also produces films and feature documentaries about law enforcement and important humanitarian topics, furthering its mission to spread awareness and understanding about how difficult it is to serve and protect communities.

Ken’s work with The Living Legends Organization has been truly life-changing for so many people. Through his efforts, he has made a real difference in the lives of those who have given so much to protect others. His dedication, compassion, and generosity are truly admirable, and we are truly grateful to have him as a patient and a friend.

The majority of their work is concentrated within the SW portion of Michigan although they  do have active accounts in Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Benton Harbor, Grayling and East Tawas.  Ninety-two percent of all donations go to their members. All of the staff consists of volunteers, including board members.

As a dental practice, we are inspired by Ken’s work and deeply proud to support The Living Legends Organization in any way that we can. Stannard,Studt and Tironi Dentistry has proudly partnered with Ken and The Living Legends Organization by providing dental care to members of Living Legends who otherwise could not afford treatment.  Charlie Johnson is one member whom we were honored to help with dental care over the course of a year.

We also want to encourage others to get involved and support the amazing work that Ken and his team are doing to help police officers and their families. By joining together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who have served and protected us all. All donations are tax deductible.
